7 June 2017: A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between the Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Maldives today. The MOU will provide a framework of cooperation to facilitate and strengthen collaboration between IUM and UNDP.

The collaboration will work on formulating research-based policy recommendations on matters related to governance, rule of law, human rights protection and mitigation of violent conflicts in the context of Islam.

It is hoped that the MOU will facilitate the establishment of communities of practice and academic research as future reference points for UNDP’s work. The MOU also aims to promote the exchange of knowledge through internships and special course initiatives.
