Our Projects

For over 30 years, UNDP has been supporting the people of the Maldives in areas such as the alleviation of poverty, democratic transition, environment protection, climate change mitigation and adaptation, recovery from natural disasters, and HIV/AIDS. Much of this support has focused on developing the capacity of government agencies, civil society and community members to find sustainable and responsible solutions to development challenges.

Within the framework of the United Nations Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) and UNDP Country Programme for 2011-2015, UNDP programmes will address the following priority areas for Maldives’ development:

  • Democratic governance
  • Inclusive growth, policy support to poverty reduction, and
  • Environment, energy and climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction
