Where our money comes from and what we spend it on?
UNDP Maldives’s activities span almost 20 Atolls and 99 islands in the Maldives. The number of ongoing projects in 2012 was 34.
Of the US$ 6.6 million spent in 2012, US$ 1,262,697 million came from collective UN sources and US$ 8,811,713 million from bilateral/multilateral agencies. The main donor partners were the Global Environment Facility (GEF), Adaptation Fund, Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria(GFATM), Governments of Australia, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland which funded 87% of programme expenditure.
In 2012, the new funding partnerships were entered in with the Government of United Kingdom, committing US$ 135,328 for the result areas 1 and 2 under the Integrated Governance Programme which contribute towards building the capacity of national institutions and enhance the access to justice and rule of law.
In 2012, the expenditure reached US$ 5.3 million across the thematic areas. The highest proportion of expenditure went to Poverty Reduction (including the GFATM Programme). The second largest expenditure went on Environment and Energy. In 2012, the administrative and central management costs accounted for 19.7% of the total expenditure of the CO (Efficiency Ratio).
